Set Up Wi-Fi Right in the Comfort of Your Own Home
The popularity of Wi-Fi, or Wireless Fidelity, has been enjoying an impressive surge in the recent decade. From the time the term for it was first coined in 1999, up until the present day, we have seen an increase in the number of users that are enjoying the benefits of Wi-Fi and a boost in Wi-Fi hotspots. To attract more customers, some restaurants have even gone to the extent of installing Wi-Fi in their vicinities. As a result, these restaurants have benefited as their number of customers have noticeably swelled. But you do not need to go to all these different places to enjoy the convenience of Wi-Fi. You can enjoy all these just in the comforts of your own home. Here are some how-to's on the whole process.
Buy a wireless router from your trusted computer store. Along with your laptop or desktop computer, turn on the router. Connect the Ethernet cable to the "Internet" port at the back of the router and attach the other end to the modem. With the use of another Ethernet cable, connect one of its ends to the WAN or WLAN ports of your router and attach the other end to the LAN port of your computer. Install the router's software program into your computer using the router's software disc. Follow the instructions demonstrated by the program. Open a Web browser and type in the configuration code and press the ENTER key. Set up the security settings and you have now configured your router. Close all windows and restart your computer. Ensure that the wireless connection switch of your computer is turned on. Set the IP configuration to its proper protocol. Go to My Network Connections in your Control Panel and click on Network Connections. Click "View Available Wireless Networks". Upon clicking, all the available wireless connections will be shown. Click on the networks to launch connection. You have now set up a Wi-Fi connection right in your own home.
